While there is lots of talk lately about a global currency reset and a new monetary system where the US dollar is not the sole global reserve currency, this is not something new.

The SDR is always lurking behind the scenes.
And thanks to Koos Jansen for pointing me to this 2009 paper written by a Governor of the People's Bank of China. In it he makes a case for moving towards SDR's as a global currency.
