Below is a notice posted on the web site for the Bretton Woods Committee of a webinar open to the public on Wednesday January 13th. The topic will be 'China, the Renminbi, and the IMF's Special Drawing Rights'. I would call your attention to the fact that Dr. Warren Coats (former IMF) will be one of the speakers for this webinar. We featured an article he wrote about SDR's here on the blog last year which you can read here. I have to work at this time on Monday but if any readers here can attend this webinar and provide a summary that would be great.

In November 2015, the International Monetary Fund conducted its 5-year review of the global currencies included in its Special Drawing Rights (SDR) reserve currency basket. The IMF Board of Directors voted to include the Renminbi in its SDR basket which will go into effect in October 2016. What is the significance of the IMF’s decision to include the Renminbi in its SDR currency basket and what are the implications for China, the IMF, and the future of global currencies?
